Montreal PRISONER CORRESPONDENCE PROJECT
callout for canadian penpals

The PRISONER CORRESPONDENCE PROJECT coordinates a direct
letter-writing program for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual,
transgender, gendervariant, queer, 2spirit & intersexed inmates in
Canada, linking these communities with people who identify similarly
who are outside of prison.

The project also coordinates a resource library of harm reduction
practice (safer sex, safer drug use, clean needle care, safer
tatooing, etc), HIV and HepC prevention, homophobia, transphobia, etc.
The idea of the project is not to match people up romantically, but
create accountable friendships where those involved can support and
learn from one another.

As an organization, we try to be allies to prisoner struggle, and
reject the ways that people a part of these communities are targetted
and criminalized. (Please note, we are only looking for folks that
identify along these lines to participate as penpals in this project.)

I just had SUCH a great hangout with T in town from Philly.
I showed up late (surprise) for coffee, we chatted about mutual friends,
art making, jobs, montreal v. philly, lovers, and then T walked with me to get groceries
before his dinner date.
I went to Sakaris bro's cuz segal's was closed (boo) and I remembered why I love it so much.
HELLA fresh produce and while not as cheap as segals
one doesn't have the not-unfounded anxiety of those sleepy-headed truckers
with pistol-whip goose-eggs coming into the middle of the market on rushhour
(when exactly *IS* grocery-store rushhour?)
to spray a jeremy's spoken all over the crowd for supporting a grocer who
OBVIOUSLY is stealing their stock from the back of other supplier's trucks
(hence producing the goose eggs, when one has to knock out the supply-driver,
I'm assuming that stock-jacking is still a big concern on the long and winding road )

sometimes I forget you're here.
I just had an effing fantastic breakfast,
hoping that my friend D who's visiting from NYC would get up in time to call
but D&K from downstairs came up to make it with me:
an amazing eggsidedown cake with sliced beets and garlic frying in the pan,
then a layer of sliced potatoes, chinese lettuce and eggs poured over and baked.
The flavour of the potatoes was so distinct it garnered a conversation about
potato-flavoured potato chips.
Mashed potato chips, baked potato chips, scalloped potato chips.
and then target-marketed Queb poutine flavoured chips:
wrapped in foil in a ball like a terry's chocolate orange that you'd have to
*WHACK* so they'd break apart.
or having to heat them up with a lighter below the foil; over a screen
kinda like hashish until it would crumble and fall apart. into chips.
poutine flavoured potato chips.
I also liked the idea of them coming in a tin, like cranberry sauce
so like a very saucy poutine or that macaroni loaf with pimiento but a congealed "sauce"
with potato chips and curds floating in it.
we talked about the R&D money needed to pursue this endeavour.
then we drank coffee and talked about other things.
